Hi Jen,

Patients receiving treatment for lung cancer would normally be advised only to drink moderate amounts of alcohol. Treatments such as chemotherapy can cause side effects like taste changes, nausea and mouth sores. For this reason many patients are not interested in consuming alcohol while on a treatment. Alcohol is unlikely to interfer with your friends treatments, however you have not specified what medication they are on. If you would like to discuss this or any other aspect of your friends illness further, please feel free to contact us. You can ring our freefone helpline on 1800 200 700. Alternatively you can email your queries to helpline@irishcancer.ie or visit our online chat at www.cancer.ie/chat/.
