Newly Diagnosed

Last reply: 02 November 2021 13:58

I've just been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour. I've been referred to the specialist team in St. Vincents. I have received an appointment for a pep scan, at the end of November. This is about a 5 week wait and I'm wondering is this the normal wait time? I'm quite anxious at the thought of the wait and feel I'm in limbo at the moment!

Hi Lizzie,

Thank you for posting on our online community.

I am sorry to read that you were diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour, this must be a very difficult time for you, especially as you have a long wait for some of your scans.

The waiting time for individual tests can vary between different centres. The waiting times for different scans can often be a number of weeks, similar to your own. You might find it helpful to speak with your consultant or nurse about the wait and see if there is anything that can be done in the interim while waiting.

If you would like to speak with one of our cancer nurses in more detail about this please contact the Support Line. The Support Line number is 1800 200 700, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Kind regards,

Cancer Nurse
