Metastatic Breast Cancer

Last reply: 11 May 2012 13:21

Hi, I am receiving treatment for Metestatic breast cancer in my bones and was wondering if anyone else is going through this at the moment, I would like to compare notes etc as I feel on my own at the present even though my family are great. What questions should I ask my oncologist? I am on Zometa every 4 weeks and have just finished my 8th session

Hi Maria

Sorry I can't help you out with your question; hope you are ok since you posted?

Anyway, if it's any help, maybe ringing the cancer helpline might be of use - they may be able to put you in touch with someone who has been through the same thing?

Take care & hope you get a reply or two soon x

Dear Maria,
I am sorry that you have not received many responses through our message board, it would be nice to be able to talk to somebody else who is on the same treatment, but be assured that there are many women out there who have a secondary breast cancer in their bones and are on Zometa.

If you would like to talk to somebody outside your family you could contact the our National Cancer Helpline on 1800 200 700 and speak to a specialist nurse we would be a happy to try and answer your questions (helpline is open Mon-Fri 9-7 and Friday 9-5)

We may also be in a position to put you in contact with one of our "Reach to Recovery " volunteers and match you with another lady who may also be living with bone cancer for support.

Kind regards,
Cancer Information Services Nurse

Dear Maria, I am on my 4th zometa and have been looking for people to talk to about this, I feel very isolated, I have metatastic breast to bone and would like a support group to help me through this nightmare. I live in Cork, is there anyone out there who would like to meet up. I tried ARC house and asked them to facilitate a support group and they are considering this at the moment. I just tried the helpline for the Irish Cancer Society but the operators are all busy..... I know I know, have to keep trying but should 't these services be in place? Anyway Maria, get back to me, I'd love to talk to you. All the best lolo.
