Diagnosis procedures

Hello girls,
Got great news today. Nodes clear so no radiation needed. Won't know about other treatments until I meet with oncologist.
Would anyone out there with IDC be good enough to tell me what other diagnostic tests you had done apart from triple assessment? Did u have MRI's, ct-scans, bloods etc?
Was with consultant today & only plan was surgery which I've had but I see stories of others who've had the full gauntlet of tests. I just want to make sure that nothing is being missed. Cancer details in signature.

Although the news today was great I still feel like I have a death sentence hanging over my head. I don't seem to be experiencing the relief that my family are feeling. I think that I had myself so ready for bad news today that my brain hasn't yet registered that it's going to be ok. Maybe it's just a delayed reaction. Has anyone else experienced this or am I as messed up as I feel?

Hi
That’s great news, I understand completely about not feeling the relief that your family are feeling, I was the same. Everyone was so happy but for me I still had more appointments to go to and the journey did not feel finished. Just take it all at your own pace.

I was diagnosed in July 2012 with IDC grade 2, had a lumpectomy in August and my nodes were clear. I did not have to have chemo but I have had radiotherapy. The only other test I had after my node result was an Oncotype DX. The results of this confirmed I did not need chemo and also said I had a low chance of reoccurrence. I am also er+, Her2- so I am on tamoxifen for the last while.
Hope this helps

Hi aniq, i was diagnosed in June 2012 also with multi focal grade 2,but i was her2 positive. I had sentinel node biopsy which showed up negative, followed by a ct scan and a bone scan. I also have blood tests every 3wks with chemo for 6cycles, and now with Herceptin. Hope this helps.

Excellent news!

IDC here too. I had one positive node. I had a bone scan and CT scan but that may have been as a result of positive node so if your nodes are clear then the beast is only in your breast so no real need to scan I would think but oncology will determine what you need and schedule accordingly.

My nodes were clear but had all scans. Think they need to know if it's anywhere else.

Hi diagnosed aug 2012
I too had Idc nodes clear er and pr + I had 3.5 cm tumour so had lumpectomy. I had oncotype dx test which showed low risk of recurrence so did not need chemotherapy thank god. I had 4 weeks of radiotherapy so treatment was finished after 18 weeks. Started tamoxifen for 5 years 7 weeks after surgery. It is hard to get your head around everything because of all the waiting and appointments. So good luck and you will know more when you see oncologist
