Would like to contact people with B.A.C

Last reply: 08 December 2010 10:48

I have been diagnosed with B.A.C. the best cancer you can have so I have been informed. Would like to chat with other people who would like to share experiences, at the moment I have a cough that comes and goes. Very little is known about this cancer. I have had B.A.C since 2010, in 1998 I had my left lower lobe removed. In 2004 a shadow was seen and I was informed that this was pneumonia, however I have now been informed that this infact this B.A.C. so you can say I have had B.A.C since that date. F Image removed. illing well as I do, it's like carrying a time bomb in my chest, every time I cough I think this is it time to book the fare well party. Positive side is that I have the support of my partner and family members and I filling great. Any one out there who wants to chat.

Hi Geoff,

Sorry to hear you are living under the shadow of BAC. I had to look it up, had never heard of it before. What I read corresponds exactly with what you wrote, especially about it being misdiagnosed as pneumonia initially.

Are you in treatment for it at the moment? Glad to hear you have good support, I hope you continue to stay well.

The boards here can be fairly quiet, and since BAC is fairly rare, you may have a better chance of contacting someone if you try the UK Cancer Bacup site. Its busier than here.

Good luck!

Thanks Flo, I am not under any treatment at the moment. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) Mutation i do not have this mutation so the drug Tarciva will not be effective treatment for me, so i am not sure what treatment i can take.

I will try the UK.

Hi Geoff,

I found some info on B.A.C. and targeted therapies for it on the LungCancerAbout website. Here is the link. But bear in mind that its a US site so not all the drugs may be available here (or may be under a different name). And since you don't have EGFR and are keeping well at the moment, maybe its best to leave well enough alone for now. But it might be handy to have some info for future use, just in case.

I also found some BAC specific message on cancercompass. http://www.cancercompass.com/message-bo ... 3481,0.htm

Hope they put you in touch with some other BAC folk. I've found support from others in the same boat to be a HUGE help to me.
Regards,

Flo.
