Should we get a second opinion
My husband has a suspicious lesion on his lower back. He has shown to his GP who said it is a build up of protein. But is doesn't look like that it looks like a melanoma.
The reason I am doubting the doctor is that four years ago I had a lesion on my face that I went to my GP with and I was told it was nothing to worry about. Last month I had it removed as it was Basel cell carcinoma.
My husbands lesion is irregular in shape and colour and is only there about 18 months. I wish I could include a picture.
Should I push to have him seen by a dermatologist?

Dear KarenD.
Thank you for posting on our online forum. I am sorry to read that your husband has a suspicious lesion on his back. I am also sorry to read that you were diagnosed with a basal cell cancer. I do hope that you are recovering well
If you feel uncertain or uncomfortable about the advice you have been given, or you simply want to make sure that all your options have been considered, it can be beneficial to seek another opinion. Seeking a second opinion is not about doubting your current doctor or disregarding their expertise. Rather, it is a way to ensure that you and your husband are fully informed about his medical choices.

I think regardless of what they say here , absolutely you should. It can't do any harm. The replies on this page take a while, I would definitely make an appointment. We need to be our own advocates more.
