'Appy Days' - Dell and the Irish Cancer Society unveil Daffodil Day mobile phone app

Dell and the Irish Cancer Society have unveiled a special Daffodil Day mobile phone app as part of the Dell supported 2013 Daffodil Day campaign. This exciting innovation has been developed by Dell employees in collaboration with the Irish Cancer Society. As the lead partner for Daffodil Day, this will be the third year that Dell will support the annual campaign.

The aim of the App is to expand the reach of the campaign even further, and to make it easier for people to donate and get information about Daffodil Day. The app is available to download free from today in all mobile phone app stores.

This year’s priority will be to use funds raised to expand the Society’s Cancer Information Service into hospitals, making it even easier for those with or affected by, cancer to access their free and confidential services. The Society’s Cancer Information Service, which reached over 200,000 people in 2012, seeks to improve the lives of cancer patients in Ireland providing information to empower them to make informed decisions about their treatment.  It’s vital that Daffodil Day reaches its ambitious fundraising target of €3.4 million in 2013 in order to continue to provide and expand this service and others.

Speaking at the event on Grand Canal Dock, Emma Barrett, Corporate Partnerships Manager, Irish Cancer Society said, “2013 marks a significant year for the Irish Cancer Society. It is our 50th year of operation and we are happy to be heading into the next 50 years with an ambitious and exciting new strategy. With Dell as lead partner for the campaign the development of the App is a real milestone in terms of bringing an innovative element to this year’s campaign. We would like to thank PJ for supporting us, and look forward to seeing how technology can help us reach our ambitious targets for Daffodil Day in 2013.”
