Our stories
We are a community of survivors, families, patients, friends, nurses, doctors, scientists, professionals, supporters and volunteers.
Below is a collection of stories from cancer patients, survivors, loved ones, Irish Cancer Society staff, volunteers, researchers and many other types of people who together make up our organisation. Be inspired and know that you are not alone in your journey.
“I can’t say my breast cancer diagnosis was a positive experience, but because I found it early, everything went smoothly." - Caroline's story
“I had gone from having coffee at my desk in work to being told I had cancer a short time later." -Aileen's story
"Try to use your good days to do things that will make you happy and carry you through your bad days." - Kriszti's story
Carolyn's story - "We have to take care of ourselves and know what we’re looking for when you’re checking.”
“I was completely by myself when I received the news. When they told me I broke down" - Jennifer's story
Sharing your story can help to raise cancer awareness, inform people about our services, appeal for volunteers, and bring reassurance to cancer patients and their loved ones.
We are always looking for people to share their stories in order to raise awareness about cancer – from how to spot its symptoms early, how to treat it, living beyond cancer, or how to prevent it completely.
If you would like to share your story with us, learn more about what’s involved.
