Save the Date: Horizon Europe Webinar for Social, Nursing and Allied Health Researchers

As part of the Irish Cancer Society’s ongoing efforts to engage and support the research community in Ireland in the recently launched Horizon Europe Programme, we are delighted to host a virtual webinar which will take place on Monday, 26 April 2021.

This event is specifically targeted towards the Social, Nursing and Allied Health (SNAH) research community. It will feature Professor Suzanne Guerin who will present her experience with EU Programmes, and Kay Duggan Walls, MSc who will provide an overview about the opportunities for SNAH researchers in Horizon Europe Health and past successes.

Who should attend: 
Social, Nursing and Allied Health Researchers who are involved in cancer research in Ireland and who are interested in participating in Horizon Europe, the next EU funding programme.

Suzanne Guerin is Professor of Research Design & Analysis at the UCD School of Psychology, where she also serves as Deputy Director of the UCD Centre for Disability Studies. Suzanne’s research programme has a strong focus on health services research and she holds research appointments with St Michael’s House Disability Services and LauraLynn Children’s Hospice. She is also a Senior Research Investigator and Vice Chair of the All Ireland Institute of Hospice & Palliative Care, Palliative Care Research Network. She has published peer reviewed papers with collaborators from multiple disciplines and is co-editor of Research and Evaluation in Community, Health and Social Care Settings (2017), published by Routledge. Working with colleagues at Ulster University and the AIIHPC Suzanne has also developed an evidence-based model for the transfer and exchange of research knowledge (2015; 2019) called EMTReK. 

Kay Duggan-Walls, MSc is the National Contact Point (NCP) and National Delegate Horizon Europe Health. Kay works as a Project Officer at the Health Research Board (HRB), Worked as NCP in FP7, and NCP and National Expert in Horizon 2020 as well as National Focal Point for 2nd & 3rd EU Health Programmes with DG Sánte. Has over 20 years’ experience in research funding management, in health research and European funding at the HRB. Expertise in Clinical research and clinical trials having worked in companies in France and Ireland as well as in the Irish health sector. Former Board member of Health NCP Net (Horizon 2020 European NCP Support Network). Board Member, EU Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance. Member of the EPA National Research Coordination Group.
