hi, last year i had a smear test done and the results came back Borderline Nuclear Changes, i had a repeat smear done a six months later which came back a few days ago as Grade 1 abnormal cells, and as a result have to have another smear in 6 months time. i am unsure as to what this means, am i on the road to getting cevical cancer??

Hi all , a family member has just been diagonsed with a cancerous tumour of the parotid gland and I am just wondering is there anyone else who has an experience of this.

My brother has the above and it is terminal. He was operated on in March but the tumour is wrapped around his blood vessels and there was nothing they could do. He never got his health since that day. 8 weeks of chemo did not do a thing and three weeks ago he was told that was it. Yesterday he took a bad turn and was put on a pump of cocktail drugs and doctors are worried about a rattle in his chest. Has anyone any experience of this? Our other brother is getting married next week and he really wants to be there as it will be the last family gathering.

My Dad who is 83 is receieving treatment for Prostate Cancer since 1995. Since 1997 he is taking Cassadex & Prostap every 12 weeks. Both those treatments are no longer working plus the cancer has spread to his hips & possibley the spine. the Doctors are now considering radiothreapy & steroids. He has a lot of pain in his lower back plus he is losing feeling in his legs. How succseful would the new treatments be. Also the bone strengting treatment has had a bad effect on his kidney function.

I wanted to write something in memory of my Nanny who passed away on the 30th July 2008.To anyone who has lost someone to cancer you have my condolences.To watch someone be taken away right in front of your eyes is so hard.With the help of The irish cancer society we were provided with a night nurse who's name was Fiona.She was such a great help and support.Thank you to anyone who donates to the Irish Cancer Society.They really do make a difference.Fiona was an angel, so normal but such a blessing to have.I hope that other people in our situation have the blessing of a night nurse so keep donating people! can anyone tell me the effects of alcohol consumption on lung cancer treatment

i need advice, i dont know how to cope with my friends diagnosis, hes 22 with lung cancer, and wont tell anyone not his family even, he confided in me. i dont want to betray his trust but hes not coping hes trying to drink his troubles away. he wont talk about it, or tell me any real information without knowing anything i cant find out anything, i dont know his prognosis, how sick hes going to get, it its treatable, nothing.. im afraid the worst will happen and id have known and not told his family i cant cope with my grief and his, that sounds selfish but its true. please tell me what i should do...

i need answers, my friend with lung cancer was just told thay dont expect him to survive the year, what does this mean? why cant they treat it surely theres something that can be done!! hes 22!!! please help

My dad died of a heart attack, brought on by a blood clot, caused by pancreatic cancer quickly on the morning of Thursday 21st August 2008. Diagnosed the previous day. So the passing was unexpected. We can be greatful that he didnt have to suffer the final stages of cancer. Im not sure what to say here, so I will just retype the newspaper announcement.
