Support Line
The Irish Cancer Society Support Line is a supportive information service staffed by experienced Cancer Nurses where anyone concerned about cancer can get trusted information and advice about any type of cancer.
What is the Support Line?
The Irish Cancer Society Support Line is a supportive information service. The Support Line is staffed by our Cancer Nurses who offer confidential advice, support and information for anyone affected by cancer
Freephone 1800 200 700 Mon to Fri 9am - 5pm to speak with one of our experienced Cancer Nurses. Email us on supportline@irishcancer.ie.
The Support Line also offers video calls. From the comfort of your own home, you can meet a Cancer Nurse virtually. One of our nursing team will email you with the time for your video call and instructions on how to access Microsoft Teams on your phone, tablet or computer.
We make every effort to ensure that you can speak to our Cancer Nurses in your own language through our Telephone Interpreting Service. To use this service, we will connect you to an interpreter who will help you to speak to us in your own language.
You can also request a call back from one of our nurses at a time that is convenient for you.
In 2024, our Support Line Cancer Nurses dealt with over 10,000 queries from people all across Ireland.
Who can contact the Support Line?
Our Support Line Cancer Nurses can support you whether you have a cancer diagnosis, are worried about cancer or are contacting us on behalf of a friend or relative. They will take the time to listen and provide you with information, advice and support that is tailored for you.

Our Cancer Nurses provide free and easy to understand information on:
- Cancer prevention and early detection.
- Screening and early detection of cancer.
- Cancer types.
- Tests and investigations used to diagnose cancer.
- Cancer treatments and side effects.
- Local cancer support services.
- End of life services.
- Life after cancer treatment.
- Financial and practical supports.

Call us Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.
