Awaiting Biopsy - saw lump on ultrasound

Last reply: 14 November 2024 16:14
In an awful.panic went for my triple assessment this morning and it was not as clear-cut as I would like - the professor who did the physical examination deemed the lump to be an E3, which is likely to be benign but not definitely so. I was buoyed up by that, but I felt the ultrasound was less optimistic . I asked the consultant radiologist if the mass was oval or round, and he just stated, "No" and felt there was an atmosphere in the room.I took a look at the screen at the mass and got a fright as it is an irregular shape, and has all the hallmarks / attributes of malignant masses that i saw in academic articles that i looked up. Biopsy taken - I need to call next Tuesday for the date of when I receive results. As you can imagine, this has brought up lots of feelings - regret at perhaps not having children (risk factor) , amount of work and stress I took on over years as I was very career focused - it's been very hard. I haven't slept in over 10 days and given I am prone to depression and anxiety - I am worried about my ability to cope. Going to my doctor tomorrow to ask for sleeping tablets etc as at this point I need sleep

Decipher test

Last reply: 22 November 2024 15:27
Hi Does anyone know if the Decipher genomic testing is available anywhere in Ireland? Also, re. Psma PET scan, does anyone know the hospital with the shortest waiting list to do this privately? Currently the best I have found is Blackrock, 10 weeks... Thank you

Parodit tumor

Last reply: 14 December 2024 09:18
Hi I'm new here. Really not sure if I should be here or not as I haven't been diagnosed. I found a painless pea size lump behind my ear 3 years ago. Dr said it was nothing to worry about. So I forgot about it. Around May this year the lump started to get bigger . Had an ultrasound which was inconclusive. Then sent for MRI. Met with a doctor and turned out that he thinks it's a benign tumor of the parodit gland. He referred me for a biopsy and the hospital refused to do this so he referred me to another hospital and had my appointment Monday and this doctor said he would not perform the biopsy because it is very close to the facial nerve. He said he would look at my MRI and see from there. I have heard nothing yet and I'm very worried as my neck has become quiet painful. Any advice would be appreciated. As you can imagine I'm worried as to what this actually is and the waiting times is going on a long time now even though I am going private.

Last reply: 26 November 2024 16:14
Hi, I’m due to get a single mastectomy and reconstruction at same time. As a single girl, who wants to meet someone in the future, is very sporty, loves clothes, I am struggling massively with this prospect and the delay in getting symmetry in opposite breast (but of course am aware that i am very privileged to hopefully have caught it in time. Does anyone have any experience of this

Aggressive prostate cancer

Last reply: 30 November 2024 19:22
Hello I am writing on behalf of my 69 year old father. It has been 10 months since suspicion to diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer. He is now awaiting surgery however he is private and the consultant has informed him it will be minimum 6 months before any surgery. He is a private patient. Is there any other avenue we can take to speed things up and get him surgery sooner through any route possible. Abroad or public or anything else. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks again.

Questions to ask at Triple Assessment

Last reply: 29 November 2024 22:16
Hello all you lovely strong people, I've found a lump and have been referred to Beaumont breast clinic for a triple assessment. Just wondering if there are questions you wished you asked at initial assessment? Staying positive as statically the odds are in my favour but want to be prepared too. Thanks a mil x

Lung Cancer Steroids

Last reply: 29 November 2024 22:19
I have a family member with lung cancer. We were told a few months ago there was no treatment. Up to 4 weeks ago his breathing had got much worse and was using oxygen a lot. Palliative care put him on steroids he feels fantastic and he hasn’t used his oxygen with a month since starting them. The steroids are being reduced. I’m wondering if anyone here have experienced an immediate come down after coming off the steroids. Is it possible to stay on the steroids longer if no side effects. Thank you
