Hi my name is Annie and I live in wexford. I was diagnosed with stage 4 hodgkin's lymphoma in my chest and bones 2 weeks ago. I am really struggling with sleep and money worries 😟 I feel so lonely when my partner and son are at work and school. I can't seem to have a plan each day. Any advise Annie 33

My husband's cancer is very aggressive and told today now in brain. Diagnosed 10 weks ago. If lucky only weeks left. We expectation of chemotherapy helping and extending life. Not an option now . I'm reeling myself and don't know how to tell them

Can you please tell me what the standard treatment for atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) is? I was diagnosed with this after a biopsy for a cluster of microcalcifications in the right breast. I have other risk factors: strong family history of breast cancer, category C density, prior biopsies, prior ovarian tumours. So I am keen to pursue the correct standard of care. I am asking here because my consultant says no treatment is necessary and I don't believe this - can you help? Thank you

Hi, I had surgery on the 17 Sep to remove either a fibrodenoma, or a phyllodes tumour from. My breast in Galway. I know the consultants meet every Thurs to discuss cases. I'm expecting an update today. Does anyone know if you always get a phone call, or do you sometimes just get a letter with your results? Should I ring them if I don't hear from them today? Thanks

I am a 37 year old mother of two and I recently found out that they found a grade 1 carcinoid in my appendix (thankfully removed now) but I was told by Limerick (no formal meeting with them or appointment just third hand information as I was in a different hospital for a separate issue when the news came through the other hosptial. I was told to find an endocrinologist and this is proving difficult due to long waiting periods even as a private patient. Now my GP has referred me to a doctor that specialises in gastro/colon issues. Nobody has explained what my next steps are and I feel so lost. I never even received a letter from Limerick with the information but on my discharge letter I learned that the PNM is pT3nXmX and that the margins are clear, tumor was 11mm but that the tumor reached the periappendiceal fat. I have so many questions and I have no idea whats going on. I can't sleep at night but I feel perfect with no symptoms at any stage. Has anyone experienced similar? I can travel to any part of Ireland to be treated but don't know who to be referred to or where to start. I'd appreciate any information as everything I'm looking at is not based in Ireland.

I am stage 4 with as my consultant has said, He has very aggressive rapidly castrate-resistant metastatic prostate cancer. He has told me I will need Pluvicto now or in the very near future. We had applied to the Treatment Abroad Scheme as this treatment is not available yet in Ireland and were duly refused on the following grounds. "The TAS does have the remit to fund drug therapies" "The patient is attending as a private patient. The TAS covers public patients only" The application was re-submitted and again declined and this time for different reasons. Any Ideas on what I should do next, Rgds Peter

Hello Everyone, My journey with a cancer just began. I'm 42yo Mam of 1 child. Working for many years helping people with disabilities...and now not being able to do much. I wasn't feeling well since July 2024 and went through many scans, biopsies just to find out on Thursday the 3rd of October 2024 that I have cholangiocarcinoma, which is a cancer of the bile ducts in the liver with liver metastases also. In August they diagnosed me with PSC ( Primary sclerosing cholangitis). So on the top of PSC now I'm diagnosed with bile ducts cancer. I never thought going through something like this. For my whole life I was the one who was helping people, and finding hard to be the one who needs help. Doctors gave me 12 months, but I'm not giving up. I would like to tell you all. It doesn't matter how much time they will give you. We have to fight and believe that everything will be fine. It's all about how we approach our diagnosis. I know it's not easy, we are having good and bad days, but don't let bad thoughts to take over our positive thinking. Stay STRONG and FIGHT.

Hello, My Mom was recently diagnosed with Luminal B breast cancer. She is in Poland, so very little support from health service there. The cancer is now widely spread to her lungs, lymphnodes and bones. I have two questions, I hope you don't mind. 1. Do me and my sisters and daughter need to be tested for BRCA? 2. Any advice on how to guide my children through this? I've been back and forth between Poland and Ireland and they are finding it quite difficult with Mummy gone and really worried about their grandma too. Any advice would be appreciated Thank you

I had to have a full mastectomy 2 years ago, and I ended up waiting nearly 18 months before seeing the plastic surgeon about reconstruction even though I asked to be referred before I left the hospital after my initial surgery. I was told I wouldn’t be a good candidate for an implant so they suggested the diep flap, which I’m on the list for. I was told the wait time would be 3-6 months and I can’t get an update from anyone as to where I am on the list or how much longer it might be. I’m in St James Hospital. How long have other people had to wait for surgery? Or does anyone know who would be best to talk to? I’m finding it harder and harder to cope with as time goes on, I’m crying every day and struggling to sleep.

Hi everyone. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to have a mamogram in the Galway clinic. My doctor thinks it may not be. The website is a bit confusing information wise. Thank you
