Hi folks! Done and dusted with my AC regimen so revving up to start my weekly Taxol next week. I'm wondering how did people fare out in general as the weeks went on? My kiddies are finished school today for the summer so I'm trying to figure out how much help I'm going to need - hope the weather is good to us or else it's going to be a loooooong summer!

I am living in Waterford, Co Kilkenny. I had a complete Laryngectomy (voicebox removed) in Oct 2010. I have had 6 weeks of radiotherapy treatment with ended at Easter. Would like to communicate with anyone who has had this procedure.

Hi, I have been reading your messages for some time but this is my 1st to write 1 myself. I was diagnosed last summer and have had my chemo, a mastectomy and rads. I was wondering if there is anyone that could give me advice on my reconstruction. I have been referred to Mr N Ajmal in Beaumont. Has anyone had their reconstruction done by him or can you give me any feedback on any of the plastic surgeons in Beaumont. Also as I am in my 20's and I'm considering having a Preventive mastectomy on the healthy breast. Has any one any advise on this too. Sorry for all the questions.

Hi everyone, Following a strong family history (Mother, aunt, maternal grandmother) I was diagnosed with DCIS on May 26th. Had wire localisation on June 15th which showed more cells in the margin! Back on July 20th for another excision to see if they can get the clear margin and will definitely be having radiotherapy. I was just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation? Do surgeons keep going back until they get a clear margin or are they more inclined to recommend a mastectomy?

[color=#BF00BF:f49m45qv]Hi, I recently had a radical hysterectomy, which included removal of my lymph nodes either side of my pelvis. (I'm waiting to hear if I have to go for radiotherapy) I have been given information of prevention of lymphodema in my legs. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I am unsure about safe types of hair removal as it just suggests using an electric shaver, which I'm not keen on. My operation was just over 5 weeks ago and I'm still feeling very tired, but my pain levels are much improved. There are no specific support groups for women who have been diagnosed with cervical cancer, so to hear from someone in a similar situation would be great![/color:f49m45qv]

Ive finished the chemo thanks for all the advice ladies.I had the chemo on a Friday and found Mon to Thurs after that my bad days but then I picked up.I found rice crispies and ice cold milk a life saver as I didnt feel like eating much for the four bad days.I never bought mouth wash just gargled with salt water after eating. Any weight loss after the first week was soon put back on by the next session.So its great to be finished I have to go on Tamoxifen in a few weeks so thats it for now.Looking forward to the hair growing back.Off to England tomorrow to see my 82 yr old Mum it will be a lovely suprise for her shes as fit as a flee and sharp as a razor. Looking forward to getting back to work part time and riding horses again. Good Luck ceedee

After a pretty shocking start to the day when hair started to go,(pubic hair coming out in bunches in the shower, big surprise)- I just wanted to let anyone in Dublin know that Roches in Kimmage are completely utterly brilliant. Tonight, I have a new wig, and I love it! I feel confident that I can face the world and work and, well just about anything. I hope no-one is going to tick me off for plugging them, but the people there could not have been more professional, kind, caring and utterly utterly experienced in getting the right style for me. (In fact it was a bit of a weird thing to learn my natural style was messy (my partner agreed), when I thought I was very neat and well groomed. But just shows, again, they read me right. I'd been in a week ago but I was too dazed from chemo to take it all in and my partner and Roches guided me, but I wasn't really all there , today I was more on the ball but by then they'd everything sorted anyway. If you have any fear of this whole hair loss thing- go. These people will just make all the fear melt away. xx Very Happy
