Lump in breast 3-6 month wait

Last reply: 21 January 2021 08:05
Hi,I found a lump 4 weeks ago. Its movable but hard pea size. Go thinks could be a cyst and sent referral. The hospital has 6 month wait as she didn't deem it as urgent. The nurse also told me not to keep checking it. She send to another hospital last week after I called her and its 3 month wait for mammogram. So hard to know should I just wait or go private for mammogram. Its hard not to think about it. Do gps know when a lump is cancer by feel of them? Thanks in advance

Appetite and nausea relief

Last reply: 04 January 2021 16:28
Hello, I am caring for my mum who is very ill on chemo for stage 3 ovarian cancer. She was hospitalised five days ago because she can't eat. She's getting IV fluids and a stomach pump delivering Maxolon (but still can't eat as it's not really helping). I'm extremely concerned about her weight loss, inability to eat, and relentless nausea. She is very weak and her mood is low. At what point would a feeding tube or similar be considered? A palliative care nurse mentioned Megace as an appetite stimulant and I've been trying to bring it up (brought it up at last chemo appointment and the nurse took note but haven't heard anything since). Does this sound like something that would help under the circumstances? I can't visit her and getting a chance to speak to her oncology team is difficult. I understand that the COVID restrictions need to be in place, but it means that patients don't have advocates when they most need it. Thanks in advance for advice

I had my last chemo on the 25th of September. Although I didn’t lose all my hair it thinned out a lot. When should I expect it to stop coming out??

Flu vaccine for children

Last reply: 02 November 2020 12:18
I am having chemo treatment for breast cancer and have 2 children under 12. Myself and husband have gotten flu vaccine but pharmacy said that children version is live and not to be given to anyone on cancer treatment. My gp has advised I should get it done. So totally confused.

No communication in over 4 weeks

Last reply: 19 October 2020 15:44
Hi. My 83 year mum went for a bone marrow biopsy 4 weeks ago now. She had multiple myeloma over 10 years ago and they now believed it has returned. We were told that the bone marrow biopsy would be back in 2-3 weeks and we have heard nothing from her consultant or team. I feel from day 1, there was very poor communication and care this time round. Its incredibly stressful, especially with the correct situation. Who or how can I get information from her consultant and what's the time line from tests - diagnosis - treatment??

Breast lump and pain

Last reply: 12 October 2020 13:51
Hi, I am 31.In may I found a lump in my right breast.I had it checked out at a women's health clinic. The doctor was very confident that it is fibroademoma but said she would refer me to the nreast clinic to confirm. I called the hospital the other day as I had not yet received an appointment. The horse told me that I had not been triaged as urgent but given that my mother has had breast cancer she would get me an appointment.Inow have that appointment for early November. In the last couple of days I have started having pain in the breast, collar bone area and down my arm.Mybe that's is just stress but I have read it usually means an advanced breast cancer that has spread to the lungs and now I am terrified. In your experience just how worrying is this type of pain?

Breast lump

Last reply: 17 September 2020 16:45
Hi So my right breast was a but uncomfortable 2 weeks ago so i checked it out in the shower where I found a lump deep inside just below my nipple to the right. In the notes it's around 1.5 to 2cm. My gp referred me to triple assessment in Vincent's. I went for my appointment on Monday where I had an ultrasound and mamogramme done. I also has a biopsy the same day. Iv to return Friday morning for my results with the consultant. Is this the norm that they do. I'm 33 with 3 kids and had my baby 11 months ago. I'm so stressed that iv to go back to get the results I would of thought they would of just phoned. So I'm stresing that they already know something is wrong.

Breast lumps

Last reply: 09 September 2020 16:40
Hi there I’ve been referred to breast clinic for mammogram for painful breasts with lumps . Gp said she isn’t concerned overly as she thinks it’s fibrocystic breast syndrome , however not only has she referred me for the screening she has sent off a referral to the breast specialist . I’m wondering if this is usual ? The more I think about it I wonder if this means she is more concerned than she seemed . Thank you I’m just very worried .
