Ovarian scan while taking Tamoxifen

Last reply: 10 March 2015 20:44

Hi there,
My oncologist referred me for a scan of womb and ovaries as I am on Tamoxifen and now I have received a letter telling me that I am being referred to a gynaecological consultant. I'm not sure why and am wondering if anyone else has received a letter like this? My GP says that something must have showed up in the scan. Is it possible that they just want to do something like a D & C? Any feedback please? Image removed.
Thanks
Resolute

hi Resolute,
I haven't been on for a while but logged on tonight and saw your post.My story very similar to yours as regards treatment. I too on Tamoxifen for 5 years.so far all good with it. I am assuming there was some reason that your onc sent you for scan in first place ,pain or bleeding other than usual period if still menstruating.that is the one thing with Tamoxifen they ask if you have any irregular bleeding apart from your period.I hope all works out for you and nothing serious.

Hi there Happymum,
Thanks for your reply.. No appointment yet & presume if it was 'serious' I would have been called by now Image removed. Do you mind me asking, how are you getting on with Tamoxifen?

Hi Resolute,
I am getting on fine so far with Tamoxifen .Have been on it since last June.Initally I had a lot of cramps and broken sleep so I assume they were related to the Tamoxifen. To be honest I was dreading taking it as I had read so much about side effects but then I decided to just forget all I had read and try it.I am just lucky thankfully that alls going well so hopefully next 4 years and 3 months will go as smoothly.Best of luck and hope you get sorted soon.I am in to Lymphodema clinic next week as I have had a few problems with my left arm , side of surgery .I dont think it is anything too serious but they want to check it out any way. We all have our issues it seems but if they remain minor like this is for me now I will be grateful.I was hoping 2015 would be free of any health issues but doesn't always work that way does it.
Regards,
Happymum. Image removed.Image removed.

Thanks for that Happmum!
I only ask as I am having such a hard time with hot flushes. They're really bad at night & I'm not getting much sleep.. Trying Clonidine again but am on it now 5 weeks and while the flushes are a tiny bit better, I feel like a zombie!! Image removed. I was thinking of trying the magnets (in undies) and maybe sage supplements but there are so many different reports on sage that I don't know whether to try them or stick with the Clonidine ... I hope that you sort the problem with your arm .. Like you I was glad to get to the end of all my hospital appointments last year but now I seem to have as many again Image removed. I guess that's the way it's going to be for us from now on, but at least we're in the system so that's good Image removed.
Stay well
