Eyebrows
I have started chemo. Going in for 3rd on next week.
I am wondering did everyone lose there eyebrows. If u did what did u do if u lost them. Also what stay did u lose them.
Yes i seem to belike funkychick. Good for you for coming on and asking, you are welcome to the site. It depends on the chemo I had chemo every three weeks, taxotere carboplatin and herceptin. I did not lose all my eyebrows or eyelashes but they went scarce but not too bad I just enhanced eyebrows with eyebrow pencil and I had a few lashes which was grand. I'm finished chemo since end of December and eyebrows are back since march although I lost a lot of them when chemo finished. I do think from reading other posts that if you have it every two weeks you may lose the lot but the girls will tell you here about eyebrow stencils and tattoos. Hope this helps and best of luck xxx
Wicklowlady an on the same chemo tch in Vincent's every 3 weeks..
Good to hear u dody loose all urs. Got my wig in roches and they didnt meantion anything about my eyebrows. Have a family wedding in July so was tryin to decide to get the tattoo thingy. I know deefed got some done in Wicklow. Hopefully I don't lose them all either.
Chances are you won't as my friend had the same last year and she didn't lose them either. Isa Dora eyebrow pencil is good. When are you finished chemo?
Finished chemo end of June. 4 weeks before the wedding. I was to be bridesmaid but after alot of thought. I decided I didn't want to be bridesmaid. As I just felt I wouldn't be able for it all. Especially as its family..
You'd be well able to do bridesmaid. I went to a wedding three days after my second chemo and I was fine four weeks out of my last one. I wouldn't have jumped through hoops but I felt ok. I wouldn't do anything with eyebrows till nearer the wedding as you may not need to.
Hi superwhy!
I'm heading into my final chemo, but saw the bridesmaid talk. I'm due to be one for my best friend in July too- I just reckon it would give me something to aim for and give the two fingers to this cancer rubbish. I know I'm not going to look spectacular, but I'll have my wig and whatever tools at my disposal to try to look half decent.
I'm hoping there is a normal life out there and this is one way of finding out........
My lashes and brows are trying to make a getaway- my onc said totally normal for this to happen round the second half of the cycle.
I have benefit browzings but honestly haven't tried it yet, but dare say I will!!!!!
Good luck xxxx
Superwhy, related question about hair if you dont mind as I am on the same "cocktail" as yourself and wicklow lady. Was chatting to nurse yesterday who was surprised I had no sign at all of hair loss yet. I know wicklow lady said her hair loss started on day 14, just wondering when yours started?. I am picking up my wig today and do intend to shave all off as soon as the first hair falls out, but am thinking if I get it done today may be a bit premature and maybe I will get another few days with my full head ?. I'm now on day 14 of first cycle.
Thanks LL
Mine was ok on day 14 but from then on in it looked ok but I could pull it out no problem and when I brushed it came out. Then I shaved it off as it was too distressing
I am doing the cold cap in tallaght and its basically freezes the hair folicles and tries to save some of ur hair. It was working very well and I wasn't loosing my hair until during my last session the f**king machine broke and its seems it didnt work at all and my hair is now falling out. I intend to get it shaved off. As I don't want to see if all falling out.
As for the bridesmaid job. Maybe ye are right. Dress has been gotten already so it's up to me to decide what I want to do...
Oh no. That's possibly why you're not losing it yet
Ya probably why.. But startin loose lots of it now.
So going to shave it off soon.
Thanks ladies
Yes do embrace the Sinead O'Connor look. I have never got so many compliments about my pixie look and I showed people my bald head and they said I suited the look. It's the new you, your road to recovery.
Hi Leitrim Lady,
I didn't have the same cocktail as you. I had the very appropriately named FEC protocol instead. My hair started falling out on day 18. I felt really pleased to have got a few extra days after day 14. Silly how small things can make a difference.
As the other ladies have said, rest is important, but also take some time for physical activity when you can. It helps to make your treatment more effective, lessens the side effects and speeds up your recovery.
On the subject of eyebrows, mine didn't go entirely, and grew back very quickly. About 3 weeks after I noticed they were thinning they were back and fully grown out. Same for the eyelashes
Take care
Kath
Well I bit the bullet yesterday and got it shaved off. In shower just after i posted yesterday noticed what i think was a tiny bit of shedding so I came home with the Sinead O Connor look yesterday evening. My children who had been expecting it and are very honest were not impressed and uttered a few "Uhhhs" and "omgs" and "its horrible and not like you" and said they would prefer me to wear a scarf !!
I can't say that I like it but am glad its done and I am not checking every day if its falling out and having to make a decision what to do.
One more hurdle jumped !
Well done LeitrimLady, it's not an easy thing to do. I reckon we started our chemo a day or two apart, I'm on AC every three weeks, started on the 5th, then I'll be on weekly Taxol after that... I started losing hair "down there" on day 12, and even though I'd already shaved my head, I still find it hard when chemo does things to my body that I can't control. I was fine half an hour later, and though my head has been a bit itchy the past two days, the roots are all still there... time will tell, but I just put my wee hat on and say "to hell with it"!
As Orphan Annie once said, you're never fully dressed without a smile - and chemo/cancer can't take that away from us
Well I was at billy Connolly last night so the wig got her first night out.. My husband was very impressed how quickly I was ready with no hair to do.. Am back in on Monday for my third session.
Yes my hubbie the same I can now be ready at the drop of a hat. Good for you , you can't beat a good laugh
Well I still have my eyebrows and my hairy legs.. Just going to get a wax .. I hope it stays that way. I am going for chemo 4 tomorrow.
Didn't lose mine till the very end when the hair started to grow back. They did get very thin, an odd time when I was going out I used an eyebrow pencil. Was weird when they fell out, was after chemo finished & hair was returning on my head it was as if all the old hair got pushed out before the new hair started coming back. They'll give you tips on eyebrows when buying wig, that's where I got advice.
