Breast Lump

Hi Yodabear,

Firstly, hang in there and I hope you are doing ok. Remember that most breast lumps that are found turn out to be benign. But you and your GP are 100% right to get it checked out thoroughly.

What breast clinic will you be attending? I would ring again today and, if you don't get to speak to someone, leave a message saying you also rang yesterday. Just explain that you are a bit stressed and worried about a breast lump you were referred for and ask nicely if they could advise if they have received the referral form that was faxed in and if they could call to let you know when you might be seen.

If you don't get a response to this, I would call your GP tomorrow and ask them to follow up for you because you are not getting any response.

I have got through to the Mater again, and spoke to the girl I spoke to yesterday and she is ringing me back to confirm receipt of faxed referral

Hope it won't be too long, I am not normally this impatient but the uncertainly is very worrying

It is totally understandable that you are impatient to get things moving. Just about everyone who has been through some sort of health scare will say that one of the worst parts of it all is the WAITING. Waiting for an appointment, waiting for a test and then waiting for results. Most of us feel better when we know something is being done. And no matter how positive minded we are, when we are going through a waiting period, most of us cannot help going through 'what if' scenarios. All you can do is to try and keep busy, keep your mind occupied and TRY not to worry.

And keep coming here if it helps. These sites are great for writing down what we feel. Even stuff that we are afraid to confess to our family and friends. And it can really help to talk to others who have been there also.

Hoope you get news of your appointment soon.

Thanks again, your post brought a tear to my eye, I can't speak to family as we lost my Dad recently to cancer and my mum is still trying to piece her life back together

Have all the floors washed and have a 7 month old keeping me on my toes

hope it all went well today, over 80% of lumps are benign so try not to worry, you are recentely after having a baby so might be something to do with that with the help of god.

the waiting is the hard part, even today you may only get more dates for futher tests to do with the triple assessment approach.

best of luck and it is probally nothing but if it does turn out to be something we are here to support you through it, i am finished chemo and have preassessment for radation next monday so it is not as bad as it seems no matter what you will get through it.

Hope things went well for you at the clinic, once you get into the system the nurses and reception staff are wonderful.

I am new to all this too and when I went to GP back in May I thought everything was moving so slowly. I realize it was like this to ensure I got the right information, investigations and results.

Mine although it was cancer was caught in time and I am gratefull to the doctors for that. If you have any concerns mention them at the clinic ,and the crowd here have kept me going for the past few months and still continue to send positive messages.

I got the triple assessment yesterday and all results are normal, so I have to go back in two years for a mammogram, every year to the GP, and every month after period finished to check myself
