Armpit Itching

Last reply: 30 November 2022 11:56

Hi. The other night I had a bad odour smell coming from my left armpit so I washed both before bedtime. However the next morning I woke up and my left armpit had turned brown and it started itching. I was wondering if anyone can advise if this could be breast related or if it could be dermatological related? Thank You.

Hi taylor09,

Thank you for posting to the online community.

Symptoms of Breast Cancer include:

  • A lump or thickening in your breast or armpit
  • A change in size or shape of your breast such as one breast becoming larger than the other
  • A change in the skin of your breast, such as puckering, ridges or dimpling (the skin may look like orange peel) or redness
  • A breast abscess or boil - this may appear as a red, tender area on your breast.
  • A change in your nipple, such as a pulled in, sunken or flattened nipple.
  • An unusual discharge (liquid) from one or both of your nipples. The discharge may be blood stained or watery.
  • A change on or around the nipple such as a rash or flaky or crusted skin
  • Swelling in your armpit or around your collarbone
  • Soreness or warmth
  • A red scaly rash on one nipple, which may itch or burn

While the symptoms you mention are not listed, we would recommend that you have any unexplained changes checked by your GP.

If you would like to speak to a nurse about this you can call our Support Line on 1800 200 700 Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm.

Kind regards,

Cancer Nurse
