Re incision and shoulder pain

Last reply: 19 July 2012 09:47

Had a lumpectomy and complete lymph node clearance under right arm. Had chemo first and was told tumour shrank to nothing. Came home with drain and got an infection. It's over three weeks in and very sore and I have terrible pain in my right shoulder blade. I am eating pain killers. I get drain out tomorrow amen but have to find out what this unbearable shoulder blade pain is. Has anyone else experienced this. On 24 July I have to have A reincision done as margins are not clear? This scares me as if this does not work I will have to have a masactemy. Wish me luck. Image removed.

Hi, On the 9th July I had my lumpectomy and 5 lymph nodes removed. Had no drain. The first week was fine everything was numb, but I started getting pain under the arm on the Sat, not near the operation site just all under the arm and now half way down the inside of arm. Very sore even when clothes touch the area. Plus throbbing at night.kept thinking it was the nerves reconnecting. Noticed very slight redness on breast on Mon went to Dr on Tues and got antibiotics for infection. Hope the antibiotics start kicking in soon as like you am eating the painkillers. Did not expect to be in such pain. My bc nurse is brill but must be getting tired of me phoning asking is this ment to happen, is that ment to happen , numbness etc etc etc.Getting final results this Friday so wish me luck, also worried in case more surgery needed.Take care and good luck . Hope the pain goes G x
