Parking at St Luke's Rathgar

Last reply: 04 June 2013 20:58

Hello everyone!
I am starting Radiotherapy soon at St Luke's in Rathgar and am wondering if anyone is attending or has attended recently. I am wondering what the parking situation is there as I will have a 1.5 hours drive and I'm not sure how long to allow to get a parking place?? I would appreciate any advice Image removed.

Hi resolute

I have just been up to st Lukes hospital. There is loads of parking there, if it's full at the front there is plenty more at the back you will have no problem. The parking is all free. They also have lovely gardens if you have time to pass.
I found the radiotherapy much easier than the chemo. It's a bit of a chore going every day and especially as you have to come a distance it will get a bit tiring twords the end but the actual treatment is very quick.

Good luck with it

Hello Sunny!

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to check that out for me! Image removed. Would you believe I used to live on Rathgar Road many many moons ago and I was never past the gates of St Luke's - so I think it's ironic that I now have to go there for treatment Image removed. - but I have read only wonderful things about the work they do Image removed. Another irony is that I feel so lucky to have gotten such a low recurrence score on the Oncotype DX testing thus saving me chemo Image removed. but I would have just gotten on with it if I needed it - nothing else you can do eh!

Thanks again

Hi,
Delighted to be of help, it gave us a lovely walk in the sunshine. It's really great you don't have to get the chemo. It wasn't completely terrible but definitely better if you don't have to have it. I really didn't find the radio too bad. I am just finished it all now and the cumulative effect is tiring but I think the weather will aid recovery. I will start on hormones soon and don't know much about them but as so many people are taking them long term I don't suppose the side effects are too bad.
The best of luck with your treatment I am sure it will go very well
