Hi CarolineM,

Thanks for posting, I’m so sorry to read of your recent diagnosis, it must have been a huge shock for you, many women would feel frightened and worried especially now with the outbreak of COVID 19.  Generally, after a core biopsy there may be some bruising and swelling, recovery time is typically short but this may vary depending on bleeding and bruising.  If you are worried, we would recommend contacting the breast clinic where you had your biopsy for advice.

We have supports that may be helpful for you during this time such as a peer to peer volunteer service where you can speak with another lady who has had breast cancer or our remote counselling service where you can speak with a counsellor over the phone or by video call.  Please do not hesitate to call us on 1800 200 700 to speak with a cancer nurse for any support or advice, we are open 9am-8pm Monday to Thursday and 9am- 5pm Friday to Sunday,

Kind Regards,

Cancer Nurse
