Last reply: 7 months ago

Hi all im new to this
For the past 9 months ive had a niggling pain in my low left abdomen i went to a GP twice to be told try ignore as it doesnt sound sinister. Recently in the past 2 weeks ive noticed blood in my stool. I go regulary every day no change in bowel habits just the constant niggling pain which is bareable. Im very worried it could be cancer. My stomach also gurgles a lot and i pass a lot of wind Has anybody any similar experiences if so please let me know.

Hi Hector87,

Thank you for posting on the Online Community.

I am sorry to read that you have experienced niggling pain in your abdomen for the past  9 months and have noticed blood in your stool in the past two weeks. As you have experienced blood in your stool in the past two weeks it is important to get this followed up by the GP. Blood in your stool can be caused by a number of different conditions but it is important to have this reviewed up by your GP.

If you would like to discuss this in further detail please contact one of the nurses on the Support Line, 1800 200 700, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Kind regards,

Cancer Nurse

Demand a colonoscopy, create a fuss, keep ringing them & cry down the phone (that was what finally worked for me) - I was waiting a year for one as I was not considered urgent- diagnosed in January with a stage 3 rectal tumour. To say I’m angry is an understatement.
