Waiting

Hi all, just wondering are the time lines normal.. My husband has been diagnosed with lung cancer. It's quite extensive in his right lung and 4 lymph nodes. We haven't have the full report of the pet scan yet but there is a possibility of spread to the liver. Waiting on a brain scan in 2 weeks and an oncologist apt is pending.. He's on holidays at the moment. My husband was diagnosed on 6th of June and between tests etc it's just all waiting and wondering. We have been told that it will be chemo first and even if spread to the liver the treatment will be the same. How long before chemo should start is the norm?
5 weeks nearly since diagnosis and we are gone insane with worry. We have 2 small boys, 6 and 4. I would appreciate anyone's advice or experiences of similar. Thanks
