Tug /pap reconstruction

Last reply: 23 August 2014 14:49

Hi,
I am hoping to have either Tug flap( upper inner thigh) or pap flap(upper back of thigh) reconstruction in November. I know the pap flap is very rare but I think the recovery would be similar to the Tug.
Just wondering if anyone could give me any indication as to what to expect with this operation, recovery etc.
I decided against my other option which was lat Dorsi with implant as I had a failed implant surgery already and didn't want the risk of implant complications again. Not enough tissue on my stomach so only option if I didn't want the implant was the thigh.
Thanks
Thunderbolt

Hi thunderbolt

I'm afraid I'm of no help with your question as I haven't heard of this procedure before. I'm just wondering which hospital you are getting it done in & your surgeon. I'm just looking into options for reconstruction now & would be interested to find out more about this.

Thanks

Pamela

Hi there, thunderbolt and newtothis,

I had my Tug reconstruction in Beaumont last February. I posted at the time viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1217 if this helps!

I am doing well now. feeling well. Still a bit of tightness round my thighs, but not painful and does not stop me doing anything. Had a "top - up" with lipomodelling to improve the shape of my new boobs last May, and due for another in September but overall I am very happy.

Hi Karen and Pamela
Thank you for your replies.
I am also due to have my surgery in Beaumont.
As far as I know there is only one surgeon who can
carry out this surgery in the country and it has to happen in Beaumont.
I am a bit nervous about the recovery and the scarring
but all in all I think it's the best option for me.
I hope I won't be out of action for too long and in
the long run can get back to walking , running and swimming!
When I get my date I may ask for some of the practical tips youngk if that's ok!
Thanks again.
