Tamoxifen and mood

Last reply: 21 February 2013 16:56

Hi girls. Sorry to bring this drug up again. I was reading through all the previous threads about sleep probs. I have decided to avoid that problem by taking sleeping pills with the tamoxifen so I am missing all the hot flashes etc.

However 4weeks on and my biggest problem is that I seem to sensitive to the the tablets and my mood has noticeably changed. I am really cross all of the time, so out of character cross that I know its the tamoxifen. I hate being like this, I snap at people before I can think even about it. Really not like me.

Anyone find any sort of remedy to deal with mood changes while on tamoxifen????

No remedies that I know of... Image removed. Your moods will be all over the place with tamoxifen but try not to be beat yourself up about it. I don't find that I'm cranky (well not all the time!) but I am very sensitive and would cry at the drop of a hat. Maybe explain to your nearest and dearest that it's not you, it's the hormones. And have a regular cry, I find that helps. Take care. x

I am on tamoxifen 9 months and find my moods are all over the place too. Was not sure if it was Tamoxifen or my thyroid as I had thyroid disease a few years ago and my thyroxine levels are all over the place after being stable on the same dose for several years!

Thanks ladies. I find myself really cranky everyday, and it's so out of character it's hard to manage. Dread to think of the alternative if I cannot tolerate the tamoxifen!
