Tamoxifen and bleeding

Last reply: 27 May 2014 20:42

Hi, I've been on tamoxifen for about 2 and a half years without too many problems. My periods had stopped during chemo, I had one after chemo (end 2011) and up until yesterday had none since. I'm 43. Then yesterday as I was going to get my smear, nurse said there was a little blood in cervix (she did smear anyway) and I've been bleeding since, about the flow of a regular period (from memory, sorry if TMI). I don't think it's anything to do with having the smear but I do feel bit crampy and a little worried.. Image removed. . Am seeing doc tomorrow and have asked breast care nurse to contact me but just wondering if anyone has been through similar.

I am older (51) so I doubt if I'll get them back (and don't mind) I got last one just as I started chemo sept 2012. I know in younger people the periods do resume , but I'm not an expert as mine are gone for good. I've had dreams about them being back lol

Hi, i was diagnosed at 44,started chemo in June 2012and finished in Oct 2012. Had period the week i started chemo and nothing since then until this year when i had very mild spotting in January followed about 2or3 weeks later by what seemed like a normal period. I am not on Tamoxifen as i was hormone negative
but was Her2++. I went to see a very nice gynae in beaumont who examined me and i had an ultrasound which appeared normal.
I won't lie, i was worried, but luckily it came out ok for me. However, my blood work says Im menopausal so my periods won't be returning. I think its always best to check anything out of the ordinary.
I hope this information helps you.
All the best.

thanks girls. I spoke to one of the breast care nurses and they're bringing me in Friday for the clinic so they can have a look at me. If there is a problem, I guess better to know sooner rather than later. Never a dull moment Image removed.
