Six month checkup

Good question trish, I have been wondering about this too. My 6mth review is in may. And if just him asking how I am and me saying I'm fine, I would rather give it a skip to be honest. My surgeon wouldn't be my favourite person in the World! Surely after mastectomy the breast surgeon should be out if the picture, right?

Had six month check up in December with oncologist not surgeon was a bit disappointing as I didn't get to ask questions I want doctors English was limited but she did give me a thorough physical exam. Was told mammogram would be done yearly.

Thanks for the replies. My check up is with the surgon as I was lucky and did not have to have chemo. I'll just have to wait and see what happens

my first check up after all the treatment was with the breast surgeon (I had to see a locum as my own was on maternity leave) It was not too helpful. When I asked about mammogram they said it was due 12-16months after the last one - which meant it was due but another appointment had to be made for it! I wish I'd known as I could have asked for the appointment to be the same day. instead I had to make another journey a month later (It's an hour's drive for me)

Had my 6 mth check last Fri in Beaumont with surgeon & just got a clinical exam & they are now booking a mammo for me in May (cannot have it sooner as they will only give it annually due to over exposure to radiation as have thyroid problem already & I had my last one in May2012) They also booked me back for Aug for another 6mth check, was disappointed with this as thought they'd leave me for a year but surgeon said no, 6mths.

Well had my six month check this week and all went well. Had a physical examination, the mammogram will be in the summer as you get them once each year. I was a bit concerned going as I had found new lumps in my other breast but these turned out to be cysts which I have had drained. Feel a bit like a pin cushion as one of the cysts had to have a few different needles before it would drain.
