Scar cream??

Last reply: 12 January 2013 00:26

Hi all just wondering if anyone got any recommendations from plastics or hospitals for creams or lotions that help reduce scars after surgery? My plastics guy wouldnt recommend anything, but surely there is something out there that helps, right?

E45 cream is the thing!! Physio's in beaumont recommend this & to do some scar massage with it...that's what I did after Mastectomy & it -was great, am now doing it after Diep re-con. Image removed.

Hi Ania
You could try Elave lotion - previously known as Emolave. The nurses advised me to use it for face & body - and i've been using it on my mastectomy scars which have healed really well. Its fantastic stuff and you can get it at almost any pharmacy in Dublin.

Cheers,
Liz

That's great ladies thanks so much for the reply! He did actually say E45 cream but I thought that he didn't hear the question right (he tends to waffle on and appears to loose track of thought, but he's really nice) so I didn't pay much heed.

It must be more the massage than the cream , well I will try it so, nothing to loose!!! Image removed.

Hi there
You're right when you say it's the massage action that helps deal with scars; for what it's worth, I used Bio Oil (I was advised to wait 5-6 weeks before going too hard on it) but I'm pretty sure any lotion will give you same result.
