Pathology report

Last reply: 28 November 2012 14:39

Hi gang!

Tomorrow we go up to find out what the surgeon and his team found as a result of my mastectomy and auxiliary clearance on nov 15th.

Does this vary greatly from the original diagnosis??? Am so afraid that there are still some nasty surprises waiting fir us still on the journey....
My nurse tells me I'm "cancer free" but still won't or can't believe it until I hear it from mr surgeon!!

Also my drain is still pulling loads of fluid from my armpit.....it's always very slow in the morning, but when I get up and move around it drains and drains......was hoping to get rid tomorrow but don't think it's likely now......

No nurse is going to tell you you're cancer free unless she has been told for certain and that she can tell you. Would be very unethical to say otherwise . I didn't want to post but I'm feeling so bad yesterday and today. Had to ring hospital today and get extra medication for the sickness. My local chemist opened up on a Sunday for me God bless him. Now neulasta pain is setting in. I've eaten hardly anything with the way I feel and taste on my mouth but sure I'll have a lovely figure lol. Oh let these days pass before me so I can feel well again!!!

Hi Neadi
Good luck tomorrow. There won't be any surprises just confirmation of what they knew and exact size of tumour. Drains are a pain but they will probably take it out as it is likely to cause infection if left in too long. They tend to bring you back and manually drain (put needle in and tube) thereafter. You can't feel anything so don't panic. Sounds yuck but isn't really and so much better with drain out.

Mary sorry to hear that you are in the wars. Chemo is crap!!! and the Neulasta injection I remember only too well. Oxynorm and Tramadol helped me with the pain of it.

Wilma best of luck with the review.

I've had a Sunday evening from hell. I felt so bad and the pain from the neulasta my poor husband didn't know hat to do with me. Felt so sick and awful. Woke up this morning feeling a lot better. Hubbie wanted to stay at home with me but I'm much better. Oh God how am I going to endure two more. Could they take you into hospital for that bad day and ease it for you. Sorry neadie I know you don't need to hear this but you may not be as bad. All I have to think is its killing e tumour while nearly killing me!!!

We're all here to help in good times and bad- I'm glad you're feeling better today!! Why dint you ask the hospital if they could take you in or maybe give you mote meds to ease the symptoms, but you only have TWO more!! Finish line us in sight!!!!! You've endured 4 and they sound tough, but in 6 weeks no more poison!!!!!!!

Hi Wicklowlady,
Sorry to hear you're feeling so bad on round 4. Chemo is crap, isn't it ? but believe me it does come to an end. There were times when I was going through mine that I just felt like giving up. (I had TCH also) When I felt totally low I logged on here and found the support from the girls great as I knew they had been through it too and came out of it the other side. Think in just over a month this chapter will have come to an end for you Image removed.
Get plenty of rest,
Take care,
Shirls

Oh shirls thanks so much, don't suppose five and six will be any better? Oh God I don't know if I can do it. Was going to ask her if my scans were really good could I give number 6 a miss . I know that's silly and I need them all but I hate the thoughts kid it. Feeling but better this evening bug sickness comes in waves. He neulasta pain had subsided thankfully. Oh God I wish it was January!!!! I will keep posting as it helps a lot xxx

Hi there!!

Mary I hope all is going in a more positive direction today xx

We went up and had a chat to mr surgeon.
Good news- they took 24 lymph nodes during operation and NONE were positive! Yippee!!

Confusing news- they are now reanalyzing my sentinel lymph node result ( I had one positive node there) to see if the cells were from my malignant tumor in my breast or the benign lump under my arm. I don't know why they are doing that but we have to go back on Friday to find out EXACTLY was going on!!

They also found some dodgy cells behind my nipple.... I got worried, new cancer, a spread from the tumor??? Again we find out on Friday. My hubbie doesn't see why I'm getting anxious coz it's all gone..... I just want to know exactly what went on......

The drain is still in. They will review that again on Friday too!!!

But I have to admit the lymph nodes news gave me a bit of a boost...... Image removed.

Thanks neadie I'm a bit better just ate a little rice pudding my lovely husband made for me. My stomach is in shreds.

That all sounds very positive just think a couple of weeks ago you were dreading all this. Fair play to you things are good and think positive at all times xxxx

Girls girls I'm going to be on joe Duffy today talking about effects of chemo! Fame at last. Going to plug this forum as I find it fantastic. Yes I like the rice pudding but I lost two stone a few years ago so try to avoid it if I can except in this circumstance. Feeling better today stomach still a bit strange but feel I might eat more today. Hubbie made leek and potatoe soup last night mmmmm nice.

Oh I'm happy to be chemo agony aunt never thought I'd be one of those. We will get through it together. I love Janice she is fantastic and such upbeat attitude. We can call ourselves Janice's jewels!!!
