See we told you it wasn't as bad as you thought. The easiest part is the actual getting of the chemo. You'll find it easier once you get the first one over with. You'll be an expert by number 6 lol.

Hi neadi
Congrats one down 5 to go.try to continue as normal(well as normal as we can be)and not think about how your going to feel, which hopefully won't be too bad.it was my third one before it really kicked in and then just extreme fatigue.I thankfully was never sick and only had one bad turn.lack of taste was my biggest problem.
listen to your body and do as its telling you.

Well done Neadi on getting through your first dose of jungle juice. Now you just need to look after yourself, stay away from the great unwashed and drink plenty of fluids. Listen to your body and if you are tired , take a nap. You have to be good to yourself. Dont forget to take all the meds that were given to you, better to avoid any nasties!!
You are a superstar and before you know it, you will be finished.

Hope the new prescription will do the trick you shouldnt be feeling that bad and not retching. When you say nauseu you obviously mean sick in the tummy? The ONLY time I got sick was defo caused by bile and antiacid felt like someone was gripping my chest though I was having a heart attack. I now have prescription for anti-acid and since that have been way better.

So when you mention retching if you think its bile caused by a build up of acid maybe mention that to them and get some anti-acid tables - the stuff you buy in shop were crap didnt work at all

Neadi,

Sorry to hear nausea has set in. Hope new script helps. I was prescribed an extra drug from round 2 onwards called zofran and it made a massive difference from being stuck to bed for 3 days feeling really awful to being broadly normal with just a horrible taste in my mouth.

Did you also get motillium? I used to take these every few hours (think you can take them every four hours) and try to keep ahead of the nausea. Also eating little and often helps, plain food mind. I remember craving mash potato at dinnertimes, porridge for breakie and scones for lunch....serious high in carb, which might explain the stone I put on, but I lost it post chemo with a bit of effort Image removed.

Zofran is what I've been given.... I literally couldn't get up yesterday and as for food....hubbie was forcing toast down my mouth... I may give the motilium a go to!!

Fingers crossed eh??

During my bad 4th chemo they prescribed Ondansetron for the nausea . My chemist opened up on a Sunday God bless him. I just couldn't eat no matter what everything turned my stomach . Bovril and homemade soup were all I could stomach. Just be careful of the Ondansetron as they cause constipation!!

Anyone that has finished chemo can you advise? I had my last one last Monday week and I've still got taste on my mouth. On previous chemos I'd have got my taste back by Monday or Tuesday. Please don't tell me this is permanent as I couldn't live with no taste and funny taste on my mouth. Oh I really wish I could taste, it is an awful lot better than last week but I thought it would have been gone by now. HELP

Hi Wicklowlady
I remember the side effects of my last chemo session taking just a bit longer to go away, about 2-3 weeks. After that everything started to return to normal although I will say there are certain foods I still cannot stomach and I finished chemo over a year ago. I think it is just the memory of eating it whilst on chemo. Believe me in no time at all you will be eating all round you.

Love and light

Ah thanks girls I was terrified that it was permanent. Oh I know there'll be food will turn my stomach as I know it'll remind me of my bad times. Homemade leek and potatoe being one of the, lol. Ill be two weeks over chemo on Monday hopefully it'll start to improve its a horrible feeling. I can only eat mash potatoes this week as texture is a thing with me. I'm delighted with your responses at least I know I will get it back xxxxx
