Mater Breast Clinic

Last reply: 29 March 2021 23:50

Hello all, hope you are good! Quick question, I was recently referred to the Mater breast clinic by my GP and am wondering if anyone knows the approximate waiting times at the moment? Would it be rude to call and ask as they would be extremely busy. Thank you in advance.

Hello, thanks for the reply and hope you are doing okay and the appointment goes well! I went to the GP to check a lump and on further exam she found more lumps which are not so obvious or easily felt. She was concerned due to family history but I cannot recall if she said if it was urgent or routine. Might give them a call and see what they say! Thanks again for the reply 😊

Yes call either your GP or the Mater to check when your appointment is at least then you will have a time , I found a lump too and also one breast is got bigger no family history nearly 52 trying to keep busy and not worry but my mind just keeps going to find information which I know is worst thing to do .

I was coming on to post something similar -referred last week to St James Hospital. I found what i thought was a lump Gp feels its a bunch of cysts ? I presume that than won't be an urgent referral . I hope both of your appointments go well x

I read from 2021 the GPs no longer indicate the urgency. They are supposed to submit the details online and the clinic then triage the e-form to determine whether it is urgent. Might get more details from the clinic than the GP. Urgent referrals are still supposed to be in two weeks but not sure about Covid delays.

Fingers crossed it turns out to be nothing.
