Mastectomy & Reconstruction

I have been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I have to have a mastectomy, I am thinking of having reconstruction on the same day. Has anyone done this? What was your experience?

I have just joined this site so here goes.... Yes I had both done on the same day way back now in Jan 2006. I went for both as my breast surgeon was capable of performing both, also for aesthetics - I, like you, was going through enough emotional torture so I wanted to cling onto my sense of womanhood for as long as possible. Best of luck to you in your decision. I would read extensively, and talk/ask every question off your breast care team.
