Hello, Thank you for your post, I am sorry to hear of your breast cancer diagnosis. I am happy to hear your margins were clear following your surgery. What you are referring to is called the Oncotype DX it’s a test to help you and your doctors decide if chemotherapy would benefit you as part of your breast cancer treatment. It is done after your surgery and is only suitable if your breast cancer is early stage, lymph node negative and oestrogen receptor positive. I have attached a link here if you would like to read up more on what it means and what is involved. If the oncotype dx determines you need chemotherapy most patients do tolerate quite well. We at The Irish cancer society also have previous patient’s available to talk to you who have had chemotherapy as part of their treatment, in regard to their side effects and how they tolerated their treatment, which most patient’s find invaluable before they start such treatments. May I suggest you wait for your test results to come back, because the results may indicate you don’t need chemotherapy.
