Last reply: 12 March 2014 23:43

Hi all,

Just a quickie, recently started taxol and herceptin, having completed 4 x AC. I have heard that this chemo taxol does not affect hair, anyone else hear this, do you think I can expect to see some hair growth soon

Hope your all doing well, on steroid today, just not letting me sleep as you can see.

Hi Georgie,

I'm due to start taxol soon. How are you finding it in comparison to the AC? I've been reading that it's not as bad.. I hope not. I can't help you with the hair regrowth question but I was reading on here that some people did experience hair regrowth while on Taxol. Try doing a search, you will probably find it.

Best of luck with the rest of treatment and I hope your hair starts growing soon!

I just posted on Mel's email to say my hair on my head started to grow back on taxol, eyebrows and lashes that had held on during AC did not last so I was without for a few weeks but it did not take long to grow back.

Hi Georgie 123, I'm on week 9 of 12 weekly Taxol after completing A/C and Taxol is way easier! I hated A/C and found it very hard on my system. My hair came back very quickly on Taxol and now have a full covering even though extremely short but I love it! I never lost my eyebrows or lashes but they did get thinner but they are coming back very nicely now.
From talking to others at my weekly sessions I did hear that the weekly taxol is easier than the 3 weekly taxol if that's any help to you.

Good luck with your treatment. Image removed.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I am finding that I am more tired now on taxol than AC, may be just a build up of chemo, did anyone else experience a heaviness when getting up in morning, I have to roll myself out of bed one or two mornings a week. Still working part time basis, so am thinking of stopping as don't want to wear myself out and still a few more sessions to go. Not sure if sitting at home all day either will be beneficial. Spudburf, I flew through the AC, but, I think this is getting to me because not used to being restricted for this length of time before. Also not on any prescribed meds for after this chemo and have experienced (manageable but not so nice)' metal tasting reflux. Is this the norm, due back to hospital early next week, will also speak to onc. Doc about it.
Keep well....

Hi Mel,
Just a little more tired, but also get a dose of herceptin every 3rd cycle! this maybe what is causing my very few side effects, so minor not worth mentioning. Others seem to find taxol easier than AC, hopefully you will too.
Keep well

Thanks Georgie for your good wishes and hopefully I won't find the taxol too bad. Are you still suffering bad from the tiredness? I'm not working so I can imagine working even part-time must be exhausting while going through treatment. I doubt I'd be able to function at all.

Please God you will get through it without exhausting yourself and don't forget to mind yourself and rest as much as possible.

Hi Georgie123,
Are you on weekly taxol? My tiredness didn't kick in until last week (week 8 as Taxol is cummunlative) and now I'm very tired but I'm nearly finished. You're amazing to be working as well. There is no way I could have worked while on chemo - I find it impossible to get out of bed early in the morning! But I am looking forward to going back when this is behind me.
Best of luck with it and hope if flies by for you. Image removed.

Hi All,

When I say working I am now down to one day a week and I work at my own pace, it's really just to have something to do and to motivate me to stay up after school run. This week work wise a disaster with Cheltenham.. Image removed.. My sister had mammo and was great to hear all clear. Only 6/7 more taxol left, thank god. I can barely remember what normality is like anymore, but looking forward to going back to it in a few months.

Keep well all.
