Freaky few hairs popping up on my head

Last reply: 22 April 2014 21:12

Hi Girls

Out of the shower today and noticed a hair maybe inch long on crown of head just popping up. Have had four chemos and due four more. Looked more closely near sunlight and found around ten of them - they were defo not leftovers from my original hair. I really had to pull at them to get them out - the worst thing was they were grey!!! For my age I have (had) literally only a few strangs of grey.

Question is where the hell is this hair coming from - did this happen to any of you these few pop ups during chemo? Any of your dark haired people with no greys before chemo how did your hair grow back.

Cheers girls

Mine started to grow back on chemo. I did the same poison as you. AC then T. I noticed thin grey ones sprouting just after I started T. Your hair may well grow back quite fine and alas a bit grey at first but it will then hopefully revert back to your own texture and shade.

Hi Lindylu

THanks for the reply - ah thats good to know it happened someone else thought I was a freak Image removed.

Hi Deefed,

Yes, had a little reduction and lift on Droopy Dora to hopefully bring her into line with Pert Pam. Took me over a year to decide have this op and another year on the waiting list. Operation was not too bad actually. While I gave not fully seen the results and my poor boob is black and blue, it certainly looks and feels more pert. All I have to do as part of my New Years resolution is get the rest of my body in shape to match my boobs Image removed. Alas my bikini days are well over but normal would be nice!!

Wishing you and yours and very happy Christmas and all the best for 2013

Hi Deefed,

Mine grew back very blond at first and yes I do remember that there were some stray longish blond hairs before the rest returned. When my hair started growing again for real, it was blond and fine like baby hair and then it returned to its normal reddish colour over a few months.

Have a look at this amazing web site - your hair will be lovely again!

I was just looking over old posts today about hair re growth after chemo and I found this found with a great link which shows lots of pictures at the various stages of re growth. Thanks for sharing the link Kathleen. My hair is starting to show signs of growing while on taxol. Looks like I'll be a while before it really takes off! Still though it's nice to see the little dark hairs sprouting through.... Not grey as I had feared!!

Hi Mel,

Thank you for bringing this post up to the top again. Luna chick's blog is so encouraging. Really they should be providing the link every time they sell a wig!

Glad to hear that your hair is starting to grow again. You'll have a wonderful pixie hair do by the Summer.

Two years and 7 hair cuts later, mine is shoulder length now, just long enough to make a pony tail. However, I am still plagued by hot flushes and seriously wondering if I will get it cut short again to not have it on my neck. The chemo curl is almost gone, just a little flick at the ends that is quite nice. A few white hairs, but no more than I had before. Overall my hair is in good condition and I am very pleased with it.

Take care

Kath

Hi Kathleen,

Yes, the reason I posted on this thread was to do exactly as you said - to bring it to the top again! I'm sure lots of people will see it again now!

I'm glad you hair is back to almost what it was like. At this stage for me any hair would be a bonus!
Thanks again,

Mel
