Eyebrows and eyelashes

Last reply: 04 March 2013 23:29

Isn't it amazing that my lashes and eyebrows were fine while having chemo and now 8 weeks out of chemo land and I've three lashes on one eye and two on the other eye and the brows are nearly gone. Dies it take long before they start to come back? Hair is good hopefully in another month I can go public!!! All this is not that important just curious. Xxx

I had taxotere but delighted to hear you've got them back. Was it long? I'm going into the 9th week out of chemo land . It's awful trying to put mascara on two lashes. Did anyone ever try false eyelashes??

Mine our back about a month or so ! I don't use mascara yet as afraid they might be too brittle ! . I checked a couple of websites re false ones when I had none and was advised you need some of your own in order for them to adhere properly! My daughter in law gave me a fab product called bitty brow which fills in eyebrows . Eyelashes I could do without but I hated the alien look !

Ah that's grand they should start coming back in the next few weeks. I probably haven helped as I've put mascara on all the time. I was careful not o be rough with them though. Yes I like having my eyebrows. I use a pencil which works ok as I've some eyebrow that I just fill in around.

Hello Wicklow Lady,

I was on Taxol and lost both my eyebrows and eyelashes during the 12 week treatment.

I will be 6 weeks out of chemo land this Thursday and I'm happy to say that my eyelashes are almost back but my eyebrows are growing back very slowly.

Hi Ladies,
I'm looking for a bit of advice on hair colouring post chemo. I'm 4 months post chemo and planning a trip to the hairdressers on Easter Saturday (I'm sooo excited). I don't have a huge amount of hair, but hair is hair !! but am not sure whether you are supposed to colour your hair with regualar colours so soon. Has anybody went ahead and got a colour so soon ??

I heard something about no chemical dyes for six months . Always makes me titter a little when they blast you with poison for five months then they start telling you, you can't do this and you can't do that. I just find it amusing

Hi Shirls,
Six months was recommended to me also so I held out until the day the sixth month came around and then I was off like a shot to the hairdresser to get rid of the Brillo style that was going on with me! And Wilmaone made a valid point about using products with no ammonia if you can for the first while, as our poor hair was assaulted enough without putting it through torture again Image removed.
