cold flushes!!!!

Last reply: 18 October 2012 22:57

Hi ladies

Just wondering if anyone else is having similar problem.Im waking up every morning at around 5 freezing cold even though i am wearing layers of pj's and am tucked up under duvet!!!Then a few minutes later i have a hot flush.I've just got myself off the sleeping tablets so this is really starting to bug me as im awake then for day!!!!Have been on tamoxifen since early june so wondering if its another joyfull side effect.
Am a bit on rant mode at mo.Am coming up to a year diagnosed and am so emotional(more so than when i was told).Seem to be struggling more so now!!!!I also had a follow up surgery 3 weeks ago to fill in dips in new boob which was great till 2 days ago when i looked and realised that ive reabsorbed the fat already!
Really really in the horrors every time i seem to get my mind round the last year i seem to hit a wall.I barely go anywhere by myself anymore thats when i go out from my cosy safe house.Pure madness how im feeling at this stage i should be getting back to normal.

sorry to rant but need to let it out.

xx W

Hi Wilmaone,

Poor you. This is exactly how my days begin too!

Actually most of my roughly 15 to 20 hot flushes a day are preceeded by sudden chilly feelings. The others are preceeded by slight dizziness. I never took sleeping tablets for fear of sleeping through a hot flush and not being awake to throw off the bed covers for a few minutes so I am used to it by now. It is the chill that wakes me not the hot flush itself but I detest both the chills and the flushes.

The hot flush I hate most is the one that hits when I have just nodded off early in the night. The second most hateful one is that early morning one that is bothering you. Once the hot feeling passes I cover up again and try to enjoy just lying there with just the right level of cosiness. Sometimes I drift off again, sometimes not.

And then there is the flush that happens just when I have finished dressing after a nice cooling shower. Grr! Or when I am driving and no one else wants the window open or the air conditioning on. Or now that I have gone back to work and am getting hot flushes in meetings where I am the only woman present.

I know exactly how you feel. We have been through enough without these waves of cold and hot and the feelings of helplessness and of being overwhelmed that they bring with them.

I think we all go through days and weeks where we are no longer in the action of surgery, chemo and rads and the awfulness of what we went through hits us again. Please don't feel you are ranting without good cause. You are entitled to your feelings and this is a good place to rant Image removed..

I promise I'll think of you tomorrow morning when that early morning chill-flush sequence wakes me up Image removed.

Hugs

Hi girls
Count me in for the 5am flushes Image removed.
I didn't even realise what they were until I read your posts and when I asked the BC nurse she said yes, chemo induced hot flushes!! So looking forward to the tamoxifen for more of the same Image removed.
Jo.
