Hello! Im new here. Was diagnosed with IDC breast cancer last dec 30. Ct scan, mri, ultrasound, bone scan done last january. Startrd my first AC last feb 4. coughing on feb 6, so was asked to go to hospital, xray, blds and nose and throat swab done. Was given klacid and augmentin for 1 wk which i think is not helping. My mouth tastes like metal and bitter. when i drink water or juices, it tastes very salty. I hope i dont get dehydrated. Can anybody suggest what is the best thing to do for these tastes. Thank you.

Oh lord. Sounds very similar to my first AC. Developed an awful cough 2 days after first AC, was put on antibio' as a precaution but i don't think I had an infection. Cough eventually went away but I managed to fracture two ribs which went undiagnosed for a YEAR! I think I eventually got a codine based cough medicine which stopped the awful hacking (cough was non productive).

As for metallic taste...it just goes with the drugs. How is the tummy/nausea? I had awful nausea so for round 2 the medics added Zofran, another anti emetic (sp?) and that really helped with the nausea and the taste...it did not go away, it was just less horrid.

Drink whatever you can, lemon juice added to water might help. Else ice in everything used to help make it more appealing. Ice lollies are another good source of fluids, or jelly!

Good luck.

Thank you for the advice Lindy. Yeah thats what the dr last week said to me too regarding my cough. Today im going to the hospital for routine blds and dr check up. so far, havent had nausea but diarrhea came, constipation, even my eyes are blurry. Even if my specs are on. Lightheadedness also and sometimes its hard to comprehend to what others are saying. I cannot believe that they were not able to diagnose those fractured ribs in the xray? Hope all is well with you. I will try the ice lollies later hopefully it will help. Super thanks!! Image removed.

Hope hospital visit went ok. Suggest you keep a diary of your side effects so that you can correctly recount them to the medics. Try to drink as much water as you can, it helps flush out the poison. And take it easy!

As for my fractured ribs...they never X-rayed at the time even though I was in lots of pain. They thought just ulled muscle. I had a chest X-ray done a year later as part of the enrolment of a clinical trial....well the docs got a big fright when the found spots on my ribs...I then remembered about the cough and the diagnosis at the time of pulled muscle. I had a bone scan that confirmed fracture and nothing sinister!

Thank you replying. Hospital visit was ok but they rang me in the afternoon saying my wbc is low, tobprotect myself from all sorts of infection. I will keep a diary of all the side effects that i may encounter everyday. Thank you for the suggestion. Im also wondering if that metallic taste is from my tooth filling years and years ago. Maybe its reacting to the drugS?
Oh my, thank God nothing different on the findings. How are you now? Image removed.
