Teachers and getting leave

Hi
My mum recently diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. We want to bring her home once she's done with hospital. Has any other teacher been in this position of caring for a parent and what did you do about getting leave from work?

Dear Geraldine973,

Thank you for posting, im sorry to read your mother has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. It can be very stressful trying to plan care at home, we would recommend speaking with the social worker in the hospital to discuss your situation and if there are any home care packages available. Information for carers leave can be found on the citizen’s information website, I have attached a link below. To organise carers leave from work, you would need to speak with your employer.
