Kidney Cancer information???

Last reply: 27 August 2015 10:06

Why is there so little information on Kidney Cancers. I have just lost my wife to this cancer and to be honest i'm finding it so hard to deal with things right now. I have tried looking up for information on this cancer to see if we could have seen it coming or just some help or support groups out there about this cancer. I find it frustrating that there is not much information out there. Anyone else going through this or been through this with a loved one.

Hi Aidan,

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your wife recently. I am putting a link to the US Kidney Cancer Support site at the bottom of this post. Please don't torment yourself by using it to look into the 'what ifs' of your wifes diagnosis and passing.

Maybe instead you could use it for support from others who are, or have been, in your shoes. It might also help you to tell you and your wife's story?

Sorry I can't be of more help.
With sympathy,

Flo.

Hi Aidan,

So sorry to learn of the death of your dear wife to kidney cancer. It is not a very common cancer but it is on the increase, partly because small lesions are being found earlier with new types of scans. The following is a link to “Kidney Cancer”

The Irish Cancer Society provides a counseling service in Dublin, Cork, Louth, Wexford, Mayo, Laois and Limerick. This service offers six to eight sessions of counselling and is funded by the Irish Cancer Society. If you would like to contact us on our freefone helpline 1800 200 700 we would be very happy to give you contact details for the Counsellor nearest to you.

There is a booklet called 'When someone close dies' which you may find useful. If you forward your postal address to The Irish Cancer Society we will send this booklet to you.

I hope this is of some help.

Best wishes,
Cancer Information Service Nurse.

Hi there, just wanted to say I hope you are doing okay, your wife would want you to live happily & to remember the good times. Having had to face breast cancer and the question of my own mortality, leaving my husband and children behind I know that I ache to think of them being in pain & worry over my young husband not moving on with his life & finding a new companion (but fatter & uglier :@) .. believe me she would want you to celebrate her, talk to her & keep her in your thoughts but do it smiling, we are all going to go eventually over something or other & thats inevitable ! I truly hope you are doing ok.
