Pancreatic cancer

Last reply: 19 September 2011 17:24

Hi just wondering if anyone has experience of pancreatic cancer that has secondaries on the liver? My mum has recently been diagnosed and we are at a loss as what to expect in the weeks and months to come. Have never posted anything before on a forum page so am a bit nervous! Would appreciate any advice or information, thanks.
Carla.

Hi Carla,

I am so very sorry to hear that your Mam has been diagnosed recently. I have no knowledge of pancreatic cancer and i have not seen much posted about it on this Irish Cancer forum. However, I'm sure they might have some advice for you if you ring the helpline.

Also, here is a link to the UK's Pancreatic support group. It may not be local but I'm sure you will find help and advice from some of its members. http://www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/

Hugs,

Flo.

Hi Flo,
Thank you for replying to me. Have contacted the Irish Cancer Society Helpline and they sent me some literature. Will also check the website you gave me.

Hi Carla,
sorry about your mother's pancreatic cancer. My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May just gone and after a PET scan lymph nodes also showed up. He has had six chemo sessions and is having another scan on the 12th. September, we are hoping the results will be positive. The chemo has made him very tired and he has low blood pressure most of the time. I will let you know how he gets on when he sees his Oncologist on the 15th. September.
Also, let me know how your mother is doing.
Bernie.

Hi Bernie,
Mam has had one chemo treatment but her platelets were too low on thurs to give her more. If they are ok on tues she will be able to have the chemo, its a tablet form they hope to give her. I hope your husband gets on ok on the 15th. Its a scary time for all involved. Take care,
Carla.

Hi Carla,
thanks for your reply, I hope you are doing okay.
We didn't get good news last Thursday, the cancer is in Sean's lymph nodes now. He is going for another session of chemo which will last until Exmas. We are looking for alternatative treatments as well now, one sounds promising so I'm going to look into it in more detail. Will let you know how it goes.
Bernie.
