Letrozole

Last reply: 18 May 2022 14:07

I've been taking Letrozole for 6 months now. I finished Herceptin 3 weeks ago ( having had chemo, surgery and radiation). I have a lot of soreness in my upper legs, they feel very heavy most of the time. This seems to be getting worse instead of better. Should this improve now that I have finished Herceptin? Should I just live with the pain and keep walking? Any supplements I could take to help? Thanks.

Dear Ber

Thank you for posting your message on our Ask the Nurse section.

I am so sorry to hear of the soreness and ‘heaviness’ you are experiencing in your upper legs. On top of all the treatment you have just gone through this must be so hard for you.

It would be great to speak to you on the phone about this but meanwhile we would feel you should contact your nurse specialist for advice re pain relief and to see if you could talk with a physiotherapist for advice regarding what exercise is wise to do at this time.

Our phone number is 1800 200 700 and we are all cancer nurses here Mon- Fri 9-5pm.

Kind regards

Cancer Nurse

Hi Ber, I have been on Letrozole for a couple of months now and had the same heaviness but it has definitely eased up in the last week or so. I found that walking or just moving really helped, and I’ve also signed up for yoga classes too. I definitely found the symptoms worse during radiation but things have significantly improved to the point we’re I feel almost back to normal. I hope this helps x
