Invasive lobular breast cancer

Last reply: 24 October 2023 16:53

Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Aug 23.
I had lumpectomy and my onco test was low so no chemo. I started tamoxifen and was referred for radiation, the breast are nurse said there is a 12 week window where you should start after surgery but the hospital have said I could be waiting another 4 weeks for the mapping then another 4/6 weeks to start, so I am getting worried now.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Dear mos1977

Thank you for your post on our Ask the Nurse section.

I am sorry to hear that you had a lumpectomy for breast cancer. I hope you are recovering well after this surgery and tolerating the tamoxifen satisfactorily. It is hard for you now waiting to start your radiotherapy and not knowing exactly when this will be. I am wondering if you have spoken to your breast care nurse and if she might be able to find out for you.

It would be lovely to talk to you on our support line about this and how you are. Our phone number is 1800 200 700.We are all cancer nurses here, Mon-Fri 9-5pm. I do hope we will hear from you.

Kind regards

Cancer Nurse
