Breast cancer

What do you do if you find out 2yrs after having breast cancer that your surgeon deliberately lied to both you and your gp.. was told by my surgeon that the margins were clear after a 2nd operation within a week and then just this weekend I discover that the margins haven’t been met 0.6mm from the superior aspect of the medial shave
Have been told that this has put me at higher risk of recurrence

Hi lovelife,

I’m very sorry to read that you were diagnosed and had treatment for breast cancer, I can’t imagine all that you have been through and what is happening for you now, It must be very distressing.  I have attached a link here with information about our services that you may find helpful.

I wonder could you make contact with the breast team in the hospital where you had surgery to discuss what has happened?  They are in the best position to advise about the surgery you had as they have the necessary details about the procedure, including pathology reports.  The patient Liason service in the hospital or your GP could also help support you through this situation.

Please do phone us on 1800 200 700 if you would like to speak about your situation with a cancer nurse or if you would like to access any of our services.

Kind regards,

Cancer nurse
