Kidney Cancer

Last reply: 27 August 2015 10:05

Hi, my mother recently found out that she had a tumour on her kidney, and had her kidney removed. A few months ago she had a check up, and had a ct scan to see if everything was still ok and that nothing had spread. However she still hasn't received the results. Does anyone know how long this usually takes? Many Thanks

Hi Loopylou,
I don't know the answer to your question and I'm not sure which test you're specifically asking about: pathology on the tumour - as a layman, I would have thought that the results would have been available within 2 weeks or so; or MRI - I'd expect a report withing a week of the test, at max. A wait of several months for results is, imho, unacceptable. I'm only a layman and only have my own experience to draw on.

Have you asked your G.P. if (s)he has got either report? You could call the Irish Cancer Society's Freefone Helpline: 1800-200-700 and speak to a Cancer nurse who will certainly be able to advise you better than me.
