What is the Counselling Service?

We fund professional one-to-one counselling for anyone affected by cancer remotely (over the phone/, online) or in person in certain cancer support centres around the country.

The emotional side of a cancer diagnosis can be the hardest thing to deal with. Patients and their families may experience anxiety, fear, anger, sadness and depression. These feelings can occur at any time - even months or years later.

A trained counsellor can help you to make sense of your feelings.

In 2024, we funded 14,500 counselling sessions across Ireland.

Who is the Counselling Service for?

The counselling service is available for:

  • All patients who have had a cancer diagnosis
  • Family members, including brothers and sisters of young people with cancer
  • Partners, carers and friends

How do I contact the Counselling Service?

Talk to one of our Cancer Nurses to be referred to our Counselling Service. They will either refer you to one of our remote counsellors or to your nearest Support Centre. Call our Support Line on Freephone 1800 200 700 or contact your nearest Daffodil Centre.
