Our employees and their salaries

The Irish Cancer Society employed 142 people in 2016 at a cost of €7.094m out of a total expenditure of €21.165m. This included salaries, social welfare costs, pension service costs and our contribution to pensions as an employer. Salary costs include all staff delivering services and programmes towards our four goals as well as staff employed in support functions such as fundraising and finance.

The Society also spent €2.98 million in 2016 providing our free night nursing service. This was spent on the salaries of our night nurses, who are employed on a sessional basis, depending on demand. In 2016 our night nurses cared for 1,900 patients, providing over 8,000 nights of care, in their own home, at the end of their cancer journey.

Of our 142 employees, 4 earn between €70,000 and €85,000 a year, while 6 earn between €85,000 and €100,000. One person earns more than €100,000 and that is the CEO whose salary is €125,000.
