Our employees and their salaries
The Irish Cancer Society employed 159 people in 2015 at a cost of €7.937m out of total expenditure of €24.7m. This included salaries, social welfare costs, pension service costs and our contribution to pensions as an employer. Salary costs includes all staff delivering services and programmes our four goals as well as staff employed in support functions such as fundraising and finance.
The Society also spent €2.729 million in 2015 providing our free night nursing service. This was spent on the salaries of our night nurses, who are employed on a sessional basis, depending on demand. In 2015 our night nurses cared for 1,940 patients, providing 7,956 nights of care, in their own home, at the end of their cancer journey.
Of our 159 employees, 3 earn between €70,000 and €85,000 a year, while 6 earn between €85,000 and €100,000. One person earns more than €100,000 and that is the CEO whose salary is €135,000. More information.
