Miriam Hilliard's Endometrial Cancer Story
Leading up to Christmas 2017, Miriam Hilliard, 68, noticed some unexplained bleeding. It presented as occasional spotting, though it would sometimes be heavier. She was initially unconcerned but decided to mention it to her GP in February 2018. Click the link to read Miriam's story.
Deirdre Doherty's Blood Cancer Story
Deirdre Doherty, 57, from Leitrim was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer called Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) in early 2019, after a routine blood test showed her white blood cell count was high. Click the link to read Deirdre's story.
Liz Farrell's Skin Cancer Story
In 2021, Liz noticed some small red spots that had appeared on her forehead. She was referred to a dermatologist who removed the spots, and it was discovered that the spots were basal cell and squamous cell skin cancer. Read more about Liz's story by clicking the link.

15th September 2026: The first all-island residential training programme for cancer patient advocates took place in the UCD Conway Institute last month. The VOICE-Ireland programme, of which the Irish Cancer Society is a funder, bridges the gap between biomedical research, clinical research, and patient advocacy across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
