Many of us carry very emotive and charged memories of cancer, which can colour our approach to dealing with cancer in the classroom. So, it's important to look after ourselves and take time out. Self-care is not selfish.

Teaching can be quite demanding at the best of times, so it's important to practise self-care. By so doing, it can benefit not only you but everyone in the classroom.

Seeing your student go through such a difficult time in their life can be very draining on you, so please do take time for yourself.

Even taking a small action can help, such as: going for a walk or taking a break from school-related work. Have a chat with a friend or a colleague, listen to some music or a podcast, or do something that you find relaxing.
